Magallanes World Study Tour 2.0 (MWST 2.0)-UNESCO World Heritage

MWST inspired by Ferdinand Magellan who was the first man in history to travel around the world. From the East to the West, we learnt about the culture, traditions, and languages of each destination during MWST 1.0 in 2021. In conjunction with the UTAR 20th Anniversary Celebration, DCInterNet are hosting MWST 2.0 to promote the concept of Internationalization in terms of creating opportunities with collaborative partners to explore different contexts and worldviews via virtual mediums. In 2022, MWST 2.0 provided the opportunities to participants all around the world to experience the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) world heritage through virtual platforms including sites, tangible and intangible cultural.

STATION 1: The West Coast University of Applied Science


About University:

Fachhochschule Westküste (FHW) was established in 1993, which is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the city of Heide in the Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein. the university also has a branch campus in Holstein. In 2008 already 400 freshmen started their studies and nowadays more than 1500 are enrolled at the FHW.FHW offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. At the same time, FHW pushed for more internationalisation.

Site: Muskau Park (German: Muskauer Park)

Muskau Park (German: Muskauer Park) is a landscape park in the Upper Lusatia region of Germany and Poland. It is the largest and one of the most famous English gardens in Central Europe, stretching along both sides of the German-Polish border on the Lusatian Neisse. The park was laid out from 1815 onwards at the behest of Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau (1785-1871), centered on his Schloss Muskau residence. In July 2004, Muskau Park was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

STATION 2:Huaqiao University

About University:

Huaqiao University is a comprehensive public university in Fujian which founded in 1960. It specializes in the fields of Chinese language and culture education, as well as in the Engineering fields such as civil engineering, chemistry, material science and computer science. HQU is dedicated to international exchanges and cooperation, recruiting students from home and abroad and is one of the Chinese universities with the largest number of overseas students. The university has signed agreements with more than 200 universities, educational and research institutions in nearly 50 countries and regions.

Site: Kaiyuan Temple

Kaiyuan Temple is Buddhist temple located in West Street, Quanzhou, China, and is considered as the largest Buddhist temple in Fujian province with an area of 78,000 square metres (840,000 sq ft). It is the only temple possesses ancient Hindu construction components in Mainland China. In 2021, the temple was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List together with other 21 component sites in Quanzhou because of the city's importance during the medieval global maritime trade. Kaiyuan temple is a testimony to the global exchange of ideas and cultures.

STATION 3:Auckland University of Technology


About University:

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) AUT is one of the largest universities in New Zealand and one of the world's best modern universities. The university ranked #41 in the Times Higher Education for being top universities under 50 years of age, and among the top 1% (201-250) of universities in the world and equal second in New Zealand. AUT have an overall five-star rating from university rankings organisation QS, in addition to five-star ratings for Teaching, Employability, Research, Internationalisation, Facilities, Innovations and Inclusiveness.

Site: Te Wahipounamu – South West New Zealand

The landscape in this park, situated in south-west New Zealand, has been shaped by successive glaciations into fjords, rocky coasts. towering cliffs, lakes and waterfalls. Two-thirds of the park is covered with southern beech and podocarps, some of which are over 800 years old. The kea, the only alpine parrot in the world, lives in the park, as does the rare and endangered takahe, a large flightless bird.

STATION 4:Northwestern Polytechnical University

About University:

Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) NPU was founded in 1938, located in historical city of Xi'an, cradle of Chinese civilization and terminus of the ancient Silk Road. NPU is a research-oriented, multidisciplinary, international university of science and technology and has strong capabilities and outstanding achievements in aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology engineering, making it very unique and distinguished from other institutions. It's ranked among China's top 15 universities in the state's 7th & 8th Five-years plan; and NPU is one of the first 22 universities established a graduate school. It also one of the first universities that enter 211 project in 1995, and 985 Project in 2001.

Site: The Drum Tower

The Drum Tower is located northwest of the Bell Tower of Xian. across the Bell and Drum Tower Square, Both of them are called the "sister buildings' or morning bell and dark drum'. In ancient China, especially from the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), the drums were used to signal the running of time and on occasion were used as an alarm in emergency situations. The architecture style of the Drum Tower is a combination of the styles of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and the Qing Dynasty.

STATION 5: Universitas Warmadewa

About University:

Universitas Warmadewa (UNWAR) UNWAR is a private university in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia established on 17 July 1984. It has 6 faculties. The name was proposed by the Governor of Bali, Ida Bagus Mantra to honor a former king of Bali, Sri Kesari. The university is offering courses in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the areas including Engineering and Planning, Economics, Social Science and Political Science, Law, Medicine and Health Sciences, Literature, Agricultural, and Entrepreneurship, research, consultation, carrier, leadership programme, and other educational programmes at its campus in Denpasar. Bali in Indonesia.

Site: Borobudur Temple Compounds

Borobudur is the world's largest Buddhist monument and a priceless ancient center for pilgrimage and education in Mahayana Buddhism. It is the World Heritage designation of the area of three Buddhist temples in Central Java, Indonesia. It comprises Borobudur, Mendut, and Pawon. The temples were built during the Shailendra dynasty around the 8th and 9th centuries CE, and fall on a straight line.

STATION 6:Jeonbuk National University

About University:

JBNU is located in the historical city of Jeonju, Republic of Korea. As the flagship national university for the Jeollabuk-do Province, it was founded in 1947 by the provincial fund within the framework of the Korean national university system, following the liberation of the country. JBNU has grown to 17 colleges (including Faculty of Public Policy and Jimmy Carter School of International Studies) and 14 graduate schools (one general, nine specialized and four professional schools). Jeonbuk National University provides with high-quality educational, research and support facilities, cooperating with various institutions worldwide.

Dosanseowon Confucian Academy The property is located in central and southern parts of the Republic of Korea, and comprises nine scowon, representing a type of Neo-Confucian academy of the Joseon dynasty (15th -19th centuries CE). Learning, veneration of scholars and interaction with the environment were the essential functions of the seowons, expressed in their design. Situated near mountains and water sources, they favoured the appreciation of nature and cultivation of mind and body. The seowons illustrate a historical process in which Neo-Confucianism from China was adapted to Korean conditions.

STATION 7:Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman

About University:

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) established in 2002 as a not-for-profit private university providing comprehensive and quality education. UTAR offers 142 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in different areas. UTAR emphasizes holistic education through various student development programmes, e.g., UTAR Soft Skills Development Certificate (USSDC), UTAR CARE Programme, Explore the World Programme, Undergraduate Research Scheme and UTAR Leadership Development Programme. Melaka and George Town, historic cities of the Straits of Malacca have developed over 500 years of trading and cultural exchanges between East and West in the Straits of Malacca. The influences of Asia and Europe have endowed the towns with a specific multicultural heritage that is both tangible and intangible. The two towns constitute a unique architectural and cultural townscape without parallel anywhere in East and Southeast Asia.

线上麦哲伦世界游学团2.0——联合国教科文组织(UNESCO)世界遗产

麦哲伦环球学习之旅(MWST)又来啦!MWST的灵感来源于费迪南德·麦哲伦,他是历史上第一位环游世界的探险家。
在MWST 1.0中,我们从东方漫步到西方,了解每个目的地的文化、传统习俗和语言。
为了庆祝UTAR成立20周年,在2022年,DCInterNet再次主办MWST,并升级为 MWST 2.0,旨在通过线上平台与合作伙伴创造机会,探索多元化的世界观,推动国际化概念,为全球参与者提供了线上体验联合国教科文组织(UNESCO)世界遗产的机会。



第一站: 联合主办单位:西海岸应用科技大学

大学介绍:          

        西海岸应用科技大学(Fachhochschule Westküste,简称FHW)成立于1993年,是位于德国石勒苏益格-荷尔斯泰因州海德市的一所非营利性公立高等教育机构。该大学在霍尔斯坦还有一个分校。到2008年,已有400名新生开始学习,而如今在FHW注册的学生超过1500人。FHW提供的课程和项目旨在获得官方认可的高等教育学位,包括多个领域的学士学位和硕士学位。同时,FHW也致力于推动更多的国际化活动。

讲座介绍:穆斯考公园

        穆斯考公园(德语:Muskauer Park)是位于德国和波兰上卢萨蒂亚地区的景观公园。它是中欧最大的也是最著名的英式花园,该公园沿着卢萨提亚内塞河的德波边界两侧延伸。该公园自1815年起在赫尔曼·冯·普克勒-穆斯考亲王(1785-1871)的要求下进行规划,围绕他的穆斯考城堡(Schloss Muskau)而建。2004年7月,穆斯考公园被列入联合国教科文组织世界遗产名录。

第二站: 联合主办单位:华侨大学

关于大学 

       华侨大学是福建省属综合性公办大学,始建于 1960 年,以汉语言文化教育为主,兼有土木工程、化学、材料科学、计算机科学等工科专业。华侨大学致力于国际交流与合作,面向海内外招生,是海外留学生人数最多的中国大学之一。学校已与近 50 个国家和地区的 200 多所大学、教育和研究机构签订了合作协议。 

讲座介绍:开元寺

        开元寺(Kaiyuan Temple)位于福建省泉州市鲤城区西街176号,是中国东南沿海重要的文物古迹,也是福建省内规模较大的佛教寺院,占地面积7.8万平方米。(840,000 平方英尺)。它是中国大陆唯一拥有古代印度教建筑构件的寺庙。2021 年,由于泉州在中世纪全球海上贸易中的重要地位,开元寺作为22处代表性古迹遗址之一被列入《世界文化遗产名录》。

第三站: 联合主办单位:新西兰奥克兰理工大学(AUT)

关于大学: 

      奥克兰理工大学(简称“AUT”)是新西兰最现代化的大学,位列全球大学前1%,并且在世界前100所年轻大学(建校50年以下)中名列前茅,排名第 41 位,跻身世界前 1%(201-250 名)大学之列,在新西兰排名第二。AUT 在大学排名机构 QS 中被评为五星级大学,此外在教学、就业能力、研究、国际化和设施方面也被评为五星级。

讲座介绍:蒂瓦希波乌纳穆 (毛利语:Te Wāhipounamu)

        蒂瓦希波乌纳穆 (毛利语:Te Wāhipounamu)是位于新西兰南岛的西南部的世界遗产,占地面积2.6万平方千米,其景观在冰川的持续作用下形成,有沙滩,石头海岸,悬崖,湖泊和瀑布。公园的三分之二被南部的山毛榉树和罗汉松覆盖,其中一些树的树龄已超过800年。公园里的大鹦鹉是世界上仅有的高山鹦鹉,这里还有一种巨大的不会飞的Kiwi鸟,属于稀有的濒危物种。

第四站: 联合主办单位:西北工业大学

关于大学: 

        西北工业大学创建于 1938 年,坐落在中华文明的摇篮、古丝绸之路的终点--历史名城西安。西北工业大学是一所研究型、多科性、国际化的理工科大学,在航空、航天、航海技术工程等领域具有雄厚的实力和突出的成就,在其他院校中独树一帜。西北工业大学是中华人民共和国顶尖高校之一,七五”、“八五”均被国务院列为重点建设的全国15所大学之一;是全国首批设立研究生院的 22 所高校之一。也是首批进入 “211工程 ”和 “985工程 ”的高校之一。

讲座介绍: “晨钟暮鼓”楼

       鼓楼位于西安钟楼西北,与钟鼓楼广场隔街相望,又被称为 “晨钟暮鼓”。在中国古代,尤其是从元朝(1271-1368 年)开始,以击鼓报警,或按时敲鼓报告时辰。钟鼓楼合理的建筑结构、华丽的建筑色彩、典雅的装饰构件,都具有浓郁、鲜明的民族文化特色,鼓楼的建筑风格融合了唐代(618-907 年)和清代(1271-1368 年)的风格,是西安标志性建筑物。

第五站:联合主办单位:瓦尔马德瓦大学

关于大学: 

       瓦尔马德瓦大学(UNWAR)是位于印度尼西亚巴厘岛登巴萨的一所私立大学,成立于 1984 年 7 月 17 日。它有 6 个学院。校名由巴厘岛总督 Ida Bagus Mantra 提议,以纪念巴厘岛前国王 Sri Kesari。 该大学提供的本科和研究生课程包括工程与规划、经济学、社会科学和政治学、法律、医学和健康科学、文学、农业、创业、研究、咨询、载体、领导力课程以及其他教育课程。

讲座介绍:婆罗浮屠寺庙群

       婆罗浮屠寺庙群(印尼语:Kompleks Candi Borobudur)为位于印度尼西亚爪哇岛中部中爪哇省马吉冷县的佛教寺庙建筑群,包含婆罗浮屠、曼都寺、帕翁寺三座寺庙,均创建于8世纪至9世纪,该地区的三座佛寺位于一条直线上。“婆罗浮屠寺庙群”在1991年第15届世界遗产委员会会议通过列入《世界遗产名录》,为印度尼西亚第一个世界遗产。

第六站: 联合主办单位:全北国立大学

关于大学: 

        全北国立大学位于大韩民国历史名城全州市。作为全罗北道的旗舰国立大学,它于 1947 年由全罗北道政府在韩国解放后的国立大学制度框架内出资创建。 目前,全北大学已拥有 17 个学院和 14 个研究生院(1 个综合学院、9 个专门学院和 4 个专业学院)。全北大学与世界各地的各种机构合作,提供高质量的教育、研究和支持设施。

讲座介绍:韩国新儒学书院

      该建筑位于大韩民国中部和南部,由九座书院组成,代表了朝鲜王朝(公元 15-19 世纪)新儒家书院的一种类型。书院的主要功能为传道、尊师、与自然互动,这在书院的设计中亦得到体现。依山傍水的书院是欣赏自然、修身养性之所,建筑的样式与自然景观融为一体,展示了中国新儒学在朝鲜发展演变的历史进程。

第七站: 主办单位:东姑阿都拉曼大学Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman

关于大学:

讲座介绍:马六甲(Melaka)和乔治市(George Town)

       马六甲海峡的历史名城马六甲(Melaka)和乔治市(George Town)在马六甲海峡东西方贸易和文化交流中发展了 500 多年。亚洲和欧洲的影响赋予了这两个城市特殊的物质和非物质多元文化遗产。这两个城镇构成了独特的建筑和文化城镇景观,在东亚和南亚都是绝无仅有的。
